Citrus and spring meadow, colors green and yellow, pea tendril, green tea-like tannins. This Gruner is a blend of two amazing vineyards at 1500ft on the cliffs of Underwood. Being the first year of making Gruner Veltliner I didn't really know exactly what I was going to do with it. I destemmed most of it and tucked it away in the fermenter. I knew it would tell me when it was ready to be pressed. After two days on the skins it smelled of a spring meadow full of wildflowers. I knew it wasn’t going to get any better than that, so we pressed it immediately. The fished wine holds onto that freshness, but still has a touch of texture and richness.
